I first discovered Synergy Fitness through a Groupon promotion in October 2010. I loved the group bootcamp classes so much I officially became a member in February 2012. I had gone to other bootcamps through groupon and saw the difference at Synergy Fitness immediately. Justin is the real deal and you won’t find a more knowledgeable and motivating trainer. I feel like I’ve learned so much and probably even just as important, I’ve learned what NOT to do and how proper form should feel when you’re training. But I’m not ready to pack it up and head home now that I’ve learned an exercise or two. It’s really just the beginning for me. The group training classes at Synergy are a blast and honestly, the best way to start the day. Everyone there is so supportive and you always feel like someone has your back, even if it feels like it’s about to give out! It really couldn’t be any easier: just show up and be willing to do the work and you will get results. Justin does all the work for you in terms of developing different and challenging sessions. No two training sessions are ever the same. If you are looking for a place to really find out what you’re made of, Synergy is it!

Deb Chehovin
My name is Deb Chehovin, I began my journey at Synergy Fitness in October 2011. At that time I was looking for a change and a challenge. I have always worked out in some capacity, most recently after my kids were born, I started working out at home, that worked for awhile, but I was getting lax about pushing the “play” button on my DVD. I wasn’t sure if I could even physically workout at Synergy, I thought it may be too hard for me, but I had friends who worked out there and said, “everyone works out at their own level”. And so it began, my goal at the beginning was to lose weight and wear my clothes more comfortably.
There were times in that first month that I thought I was going to be sick during the workout, times when I was “lapped” by the seasoned people, but every time after a workout I felt great! Everyone at Synergy from the trainers to the “gang”, are all so supportive and that keeps me going to this day. In January 2012, I told Justin, “help me!” I wanted to start getting serious about my eating habits and training, so I joined the THRIVE program, and began the next leg of my journey. I have cleaned up my eating, tried different methods that work for me. Now, as I look back on my last 6 months, I have changed those original goals, now my goal is to find a balance with food and exercise and to be fit and healthy for the rest of my life. I love challenging myself with the workouts, I love my new friendships, I love the new me! I love Synergy Fitness!! Thank You for providing a place where hard-work and teamwork are one in the same!

After having my son a year and a half ago, I was the heaviest I’ve ever been. Not only that, I felt terrible about myself. Then I started training with Justin. He has been a true inspiration in my life. With his training and nutrition plans, I’m now in the best shape of my life! I’ve even gone from wearing a size 12 to a size 4. At Synergy Fitness I’ve found a great support system and friends to lean on and keep me reaching for new goals.

I began training with Justin in September 2008. I had recently turned 49 and I decided that I wanted to try to be in the best shape of my life by the time I turned the big 5-0. I thought that if I felt good about myself physically then the shock of the big birthday would be easier to bear. I chose Justin after watching him for a few weeks as he trained others. I was impressed by the variety of workouts he used for each of his clients; he seemed to tailor each workout to the individual’s fitness level and abilities. I was also impressed by the variety of his clients, some of whom seemed to be in top physical shape while others seemed to be brand new to any exercise at all. I thought I fell somewhere in between.
Justin has been a great trainer and a great teacher. I have never worked harder, nor have I ever had so much fun working out. Justin varies my workouts so that it is never boring and he encourages me to dig deep and find the strength to lift the extra weight or complete the extra rep. In addition, Justin’s knowledge goes beyond that of a typical trainer who might only know good exercises; Justin has a thorough understanding of anatomy and physiology which enables him to answer my “why?” and “how come?” questions. As a result of his knowledge and experience he is also able to maximize the efficiency of my workouts by varying the order or intensity of the exercises.
I turned the big 5-0 over a year ago and there was no doubt that I had met my goal and was in the best shape I had ever been in. I had lost weight and built lean muscle. I am now 51 and continue to train with Justin. My tennis game has dramatically improved as a result of Justin’s functional fitness training, and I have recently taken up cycling and skiing! I feel confident, strong, fit, and slim. I haven’t told Justin yet, but my new goal is to be in the best shape of my life when I turn 55, then 60! I trust he is up for the challenge!

I have a diverse background in physical fitness training, ranging from track and field to martial arts, to ARMY PT. During my collegian years, I became lazy, concentrating on my studies, and it wasn’t until I took a kinesiology course that I realized how my current actions affect my future wellbeing. That being said, I worked hard with a personal trainer and did my research. I was successful in losing extra weight and becoming a better person, but I hit a wall, and was not able to increase my physical abilities or cardiovascular health. Even with rigorous training with the US ARMY, I was not getting stronger, and my cardiovascular capacity was not adequate. I suffered a training injury to my heel which required surgery to repair, and I had little exercise from November 2009 through February 2010 when I had my surgery.
I knew that I had to get back into shape, both for the ARMY, and for the impact that my health has on myself and those around me. Especially with getting married this year, I need to be in the best shape of my life. I met Justin early this year, and immediately I was able to connect with someone who understood my unique situation, including my fitness & nutrition needs.
Being only 25, it’s hard to believe the ups and downs I’ve gone through with personal fitness, weight issues, and health. Justin helped me to identify the inadequacy of my diet and training habits. I didn’t know as much as I had thought I knew about nutrition and exercise, and with one quick consultation, I was able to adapt my eating habits to be healthier and more beneficial to my workout regimen. From there, I dedicated my time to working hard both in Justin’s Boot Camp & PT classes, and with variable workout routines that Justin put together to fit my needs. I began to eat better, and immediately saw a difference in my energy levels, mood, and overall wellbeing. I felt good…I felt great!
Throughout the past few months, I grew to understand the full importance of keeping myself healthy. Working out with my fiancée gives us both a challenge in a friendly environment where we can challenge each other and do something fun together. A unique and awesome opportunity indeed, the more time I spend working with Justin, the more fun I have!
In a short amount of time, I feel fantastic; my cardio-endurance has improved drastically. I even boasted that I’ve taken almost 3 minutes off of my 3-mile run time. My physique has improved, and my overall strength and endurance is the highest I’ve ever experienced in my life. My health, my fitness, and my afternoon enjoyment I owe all to Justin.
I recommend Justin Bowers and Synergy Fitness to everyone that I know, and even new people that I meet. If you’re looking to make some changes, however minor, learn new things, or just have fun a few times a week, I couldn’t think of a better person to train with! Between his awesome enthusiasm, passion for his work, and his friendly demeanor, it doesn’t take long to see why Justin has made the connections he has and is so successful in helping people achieve their goals. It’s a family environment, and with a few short sessions with Justin, you’ll feel like family too.

I have been a member of the large fitness clubs and found that they are not for me. Justin Bowers at Synergy Fitness has formed a fitness center and put together winning combination with a outstanding facility, equipment and knowledge. The facility is large enough for group and individual personal training. I never feel cramped and, just as important, I do not feel like I’m working out in a warehouse. The equipment is in excellent condition and you will find all the equipment you would expect to find in a larger gym.
I also appreciate the other non-standard functional strength equipment.
The best aspect of Synergy Fitness is Justin Bowers. He is extremely knowledgeable in fitness, training and nutrition. I feel confident that I’m getting fit in a way that is customized to my age, specific goals, and executed safely. My fitness program is always evolving and changing, which keeps things from getting old.

Growing up overweight was hard. When I was little I became very sick. The doctors put me on all kinds of medicines. As a result I gained about 30 pounds in a month. I was 8 years old and weighed over 120 pounds. I tried to play sports but I just never could keep up with the other kids. No matter how active I was, I just couldn’t get the weight off.
As an adult I started to drop the “baby fat,” as I called it, and I finally began to like my body. About a year later, I tore my meniscus. I was put on the same medication that I had as a kid, and gained all of the weight back. Everything I worked for was gone, so I gave up and didn’t care anymore. It seemed the fitness gods were against me.
That’s when I met Justin. He saw determination in me that I couldn’t. He took me under his wing and guided me to health. With a few diet plans here and a fierce work out at night I started to see a major difference. Within a month I lost 6% body fat and gained 7 pounds of muscle.
Without Justin I wouldn’t be where I am now. My life has been completely turned around because if his support and knowledge. He has made fitness fun for me. I’m now buying sizes I’ve never been in before, fit into my pre-surgery jeans, and appreciate my body. Thank you Justin for believing in me when I didn’t anymore! I look forward to continued results and know I can reach my goals with Justin’s motivation!

Back in my newlywed days I was a gym rat. I’d spend on average 12 hours a week at my beloved gym (Alpha) taking step, power yoga, kick boxing, spin, running and doing weight training. My husband worked long hours and with no kids and a 8-to-5-ish job I had plenty of free time. However, since leaving my “day job,” having a child, and running my own business, I have spent most of my time behind a computer on my increasing derriére!
I had been contemplating joining a gym again after working out solely at home on a VERY expensive piece of gym quality equipment. Somehow in the year I owned it, I managed to gain 10lbs…and I’ve racked a lot of miles on this puppy. Perhaps my 1-2 hour cardio sessions weren’t the ticket to total body fitness? As I’m learning with Justin, it’s HOW you exercise (and eat), not how much you exercise. Justin can kick my butt and get my heart rate off the charts within 10 minutes. After 30 minutes I’m whooped and I’m a bit sore (okay in the beginning it was a lot) the next day so I feel like my muscles actually did something!
I’m somehow convinced I can do this because despite my occasional binges (FYI I’m a sugar addict) and my few trips to the gym, I lost 4 pounds and 1/2″ on my waist in my first month of training with Justin and taking his Boot Camps. If I really commit to this I can do MUCH better than that. I began at 33% body fat and my goal is to get down to 25% (the healthy range for women) by my 10th wedding anniversary this fall!
So it’s time I CHANGE the way I eat, the way I live and the way I FEEL! Looking better is just a great side effect!

As a teenager I went through several years of avoiding food and eating in fear of getting fat, but I was by no means overweight. I would often skip breakfast, eat pretzels for lunch and then dinner. I worked out daily, doing mainly cardio. This cycle went on for quite sometime, until I started training with Justin. I began taking his Body Camp class and enjoyed every minute of it, I had never sweated so much before in my life nor pushed through any kind of work out as much as I did when working out during that class. I looked forward to taking that class every week. After that, I began training with Justin two to three times a week. During the time I trained with him he taught me so many things. Not only did he offer a variety of different work outs, but he taught me to all different kinds of exercises that I would never have learned on my own nor would have ever thought about working out at a gym lifting weights in front of mainly men. He taught me the kinds of foods I should be eating and the importance of never skipping meals. I am more educated now and am able to enjoy eating! Working out with Justin gave me more confidence in myself than I never knew I had. I feel much stronger and healthier than I ever have before.

Justin devises routines appropriate for elderly or injured clients, extremely fit and athletic clients, and out-of-shape, average clients, and he guides clients through their workouts carefully and methodically, keeping it fun and safe.

“Wow, You’ve Lost MORE Weight”??????
I can’t tell you how many times I have gotten that question over the past 5 months. People who I see daily and people who I see once a month or once a year all
ask the same thing. It’s nice and it’s a compliment but honestly, it’s not true! I haven’t lost any weight since early June of this year.
My weight has stayed almost exactly the same – so what do I tell people?? IT’S A TRANSFORMATION!! My body has gone through the most amazing and fulfilling transformation over the past 10 months because of one reason –Justin Bowers and Synergy Fitness!
This journey and ultimate transformation began in early December 2011. My 4th child was 6 months old and I had been back at the gym for a few months doing my “normal routine”- treadmill, elliptical and machines. NOTHING was happening. I had lost a few baby pounds but I was not strong and I was unhappy.
When I found out Synergy had classes and wasn’t just personal training I couldn’t wait to sign up! The first few weeks were ROUGH. Every morning I woke up with another part of my body aching but I started seeing real results.
Justin was there every day reminding me that I COULD finish strong, no matter how tired and sore! The training regime itself, the motivation from Justin and the awesome inspiration of my teammates were all huge influences.
Justin has created Synergy to be a family atmosphere – we are all in it together. Veterans or Newbs – no matter what the fitness level – we are all grunting and groaning through the workouts as a TEAM.
As the months went by I lost weight – 20lbs – and in the winter of 2012 I was back in my pre-pregnancy clothes. I was good with that, and still loving my 45min a day working out with the team .
But as time went on my body kept changing. I wasn’t losing more weight but my body was becoming LEANER and STRONGER and I could see changes in the mirror that I never thought could happen.
I am now down to a clothing size that I haven’t worn EVER in my adult life. And when I get that question: “wow, you’ve lost more weight haven’t you?!” I’m happy to reply – “no I haven’t, I’ve transformed the weight I have into a new body!”
Justin, THANK YOU, for all of your inspiration, enthusiasm and love of your job and your trainees. You are an awesome trainer but most of all you are an amazing person! I’ll be joining you every morning on this journey for as long as possible!!
